Abdel Rahman Suwar al-Dahab (born 1934, died 2018) was an important leader in Sudan. He was also known as Suwar al-Dahab. He served as the President of Sudan for a short time. This was from April 1985 to May 1986.
His full name was Abdul Rahman Muhammad Hassan Swar Al Thahab. This name was officially used by the Sudanese Ministry of Defence.

Who Was Abdel Rahman Suwar al-Dahab?
Abdel Rahman Suwar al-Dahab was born in 1934. His birthplace was Omdurman, a city in Sudan. He studied at the Sudanese Military Academy. He also took military courses in other countries. These included Britain, the United States, Egypt, and Jordan.
He became a well-known figure in Sudan. In 1984, President Gaafar Nimeiry gave him important roles. He was made Chief of Staff. Then he became the Minister of Defence. He also led the country's armed forces.
Leading Sudan: A Time of Change
In 1985, a big change happened in Sudan. Suwar al-Dahab led a change in government. This led to President Gaafar Nimeiry leaving power. After this, Suwar al-Dahab became the leader. He was the Chairman of the Transitional Military Council. This council helped guide the country.
He promised to hand over power to a new government. This would happen after new elections. He kept his promise. In 1986, he gave up his power. This happened after elections were held. The new leaders were Ahmed al-Mirghani and Prime Minister Sadiq al-Mahdi. This act of handing over power was seen as very important.
His Work After Presidency
After leaving the presidency, Suwar al-Dahab continued to serve. In 1987, he became the Chairman of the Islamic Call Organization. This organization works to promote Islamic values.
In 2004, he received a special award. It was the King Faisal International Prize. He got this award for his service to Islam. He passed away on October 18, 2018. He died in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
