Abdel Rahman el-Abnudi (Arabic: عبد الرحمن الأبنودي, romanized: ʻAbd il-Raḥmān Abnūdī, born April 11, 1938 – died April 21, 2015) was a very famous Egyptian poet. He also wrote books for children later in his life.
He was part of a group of poets who chose to write in the everyday Egyptian language, specifically the Upper Egyptian dialect, instead of the more formal Standard Arabic. This choice was connected to his desire for social change and helping Egypt move towards a more democratic future.
