Abdelaziz Djerad (Arabic: عبد العزيز جراد; born 12 February 1954) is an Algerian politician and diplomat. He served as the Prime Minister of Algeria from 28 December 2019 to 30 June 2021. In September 2021, he was appointed ambassador to Sweden.

Early Life and Education
Abdelaziz Djerad was born in Khenchela, Algeria, on 12 February 1954. He studied at the Institute of Political Sciences and International Relations in Algiers, where he earned his bachelor's degree in 1976.
After that, he moved to Paris Nanterre University in France. There, he completed his doctorate degree. Djerad also worked as a professor of political science at the University of Algiers. He wrote several books during his time as a professor.
From 1989 to 1992, Djerad was the director of the National School of Administration (ENA) in Algiers. This school helps train people for government jobs.
Political Career
Early Roles
From 1996 to 2000, Abdelaziz Djerad was the Director General of the Algerian Agency for International Cooperation. This agency helps Algeria work with other countries around the world.
Djerad worked under different Algerian leaders, including Ali Kafi, Liamine Zéroual, and Abdelaziz Bouteflika. However, in 2003, he disagreed with President Bouteflika and became a strong critic of his government.
Becoming Prime Minister
On 28 December 2019, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune chose Djerad to be the new Prime Minister of Algeria. His first job was to create a new government.
Soon after, on 29 December 2019, he appointed Brahim Bouzeboudjen as his Director of Cabinet. He also named Mohamed Lamine Saoudi Mabrouk as the Head of the Prime Minister’s Office. A new government was officially formed on 2 January 2020.
On 13 January 2020, President Tebboune asked Djerad to prepare a law. This law would make it illegal to promote racism, regionalism, or hate speech.
In October 2020, President Tebboune became sick with COVID-19 and went to Germany for treatment. During this time, Djerad took over many of the President's duties. President Tebboune returned to his duties on 29 December 2020.
After the Premiership
Djerad resigned from his role as Prime Minister on 24 June 2021. This happened after the 2021 Algerian parliamentary election. Aymen Benabderrahmane, who was the Minister of Finance, took over as the new Prime Minister.
On 5 September 2021, President Tebboune appointed Djerad as the new ambassador to Sweden. In this role, he represents Algeria in Sweden and works to build good relationships between the two countries.
