Achille Loria was born in a city called Mantua in Italy. He went to many universities to learn. He studied in cities like Bologna, Pavia, Rome, Berlin, and London. He finished his studies at the University of Bologna in 1877.

Loria became a professor of political economy. He taught at the University of Siena starting in 1881. Later, he taught at the University of Padua and the University of Torino. In 1919, he was chosen to be part of the Italian Senate. This is like being a member of a country's parliament.
