Episode Story

This episode tells the story of Miley's on-again, off-again relationship with Jake Ryan. It also shows Jackson's funny business adventures.

Part 1: Jake's Return

Jake Ryan comes back and tries to win Miley over again. He brings her gifts and even dresses like a knight! Miley is still upset because he left before. She gets even more annoyed when he has to go to a movie premiere with another actress, Marissa. Miley gets so mad she hits him with a salami!

Later, Miley sees Jake on TV. He tells everyone, "I'm in love with a girl named Miley Stewart." This makes Miley happy. She goes to the movie theater and kisses Jake. After this, Miley becomes very popular because she is dating a famous TV star.

Jake acts like a perfect boyfriend. He even names a star after Miley! He also tells her his real name is Leslie. Miley feels bad because she hasn't told him her big secret: that she is really Hannah Montana. She feels even worse after visiting a second-grade class and talking about being honest.

Meanwhile, Miley's brother Jackson has trouble with his boss, Rico. Rico fires Jackson. Jackson decides to start his own business. At first, it doesn't go well. But then, Jackson and Oliver accidentally create a new snack called "Cheese Jerky." This becomes a big hit!

Finally, Miley decides she can't keep her secret from Jake anymore. She tells him that she is Hannah Montana.

Part 2: The Secret and the Struggles

After Miley tells Jake her secret, they share a kiss. They almost get caught by photographers! Jake and Miley try to go on dates, but fans always bother them. Jake buys a black wig and tries to disguise himself as "Milos" so they can have private dates. But being a "normal person" is harder than Jake thought.

Jake gets frustrated when he's not recognized as a star. He tries to go on a date as a regular person again. But he gets impatient waiting for ice cream and even takes water from a little girl! He also keeps talking about himself and how famous he is. Miley gets annoyed. She wants to break up with him, but she worries he might tell her secret.

Miley decides to make Jake break up with her. On their next date, she acts very strangely. She wears a silly goose outfit and pretends to have fake armpit hair to embarrass him. Jake thinks Miley is just jealous of his fame. Miley gets even more upset. She tells him he is acting annoying and full of himself. She tries to say she's afraid he'll tell her secret if they break up. Jake then says he might tell her secret if that's what she thinks of him. Miley becomes very sad.

Miley talks to her dad about everything. She wonders if she will miss her secret or the good person she thought Jake was. Jake sends Miley a box with a rose and a note. In the note, Jake says Miley was right. He promises to try to be a more normal person before they try dating again. He also promises not to tell her secret. He signs the note as Leslie. Miley's dad asks who Leslie is, and Miley says, "A very good friend."

In Jackson's story, Rico tries to steal the Cheese Jerky recipe, but he fails. Jackson and Oliver make a lot of money, even more than Rico! But they forgot to think about the cost of making the jerky. After paying for everything, Jackson only has $1 left. He realizes he was better off working for Rico. Jackson goes back to work for Rico, who seems confused. It looks like Jackson might be tricking Rico, suggesting the whole business adventure really happened.

The "Achy Jakey Heart" episodes were very popular! They helped Disney Channel get the best TV ratings for any cable channel during the week of June 24, 2007. Part 2 of the episode was watched by 3.4 million viewers aged 9 to 14. A total of 7.38 million people watched it, which was the biggest audience for a Hannah Montana episode at that time.

To give you an idea, a popular news show called 60 Minutes had 8.5 million viewers on the same night. So, Hannah Montana was almost as popular! The success of "Achy Jakey Heart" also happened around the same time Miley Cyrus released her album "Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus", which sold very well.
