Emily Jordan Osment (born March 10, 1992) is an American actress, singer, and songwriter. She grew up in Los Angeles, California. Emily started acting when she was a child. She appeared in many TV shows and movies.
She became well-known for playing Gerti Giggles in the movies Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams (2002) and Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over (2003). Later, she starred as Lilly Truscott in the popular Disney Channel show Hannah Montana (2006–2011). She also appeared in Hannah Montana: The Movie (2009).
In the 2010s, Emily Osment took on many different roles. She played Taylor Hillridge in the TV movie Cyberbully (2011). She was also Roxie in the online series Cleaners (2013–2014). From 2014 to 2018, she starred as Gabi Diamond in the Freeform TV series Young & Hungry. For this role, she was nominated for three Teen Choice Awards. She also played Roxy Doyle in the Fox TV series Almost Family (2019–2020).
From 2018 to 2021, Emily had a recurring role as Theresa in the Netflix comedy-drama The Kominsky Method. This role earned her two nominations for a Screen Actors Guild Award. More recently, in the 2020s, she starred as Chelsea in the Netflix sitcom Pretty Smart (2021). She also played Mandy McAllister in the CBS sitcom Young Sheldon (2022–2024). She will continue this role in the spin-off series Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage (2024).

Emily Osment was born in Los Angeles, California. Her father, Michael Eugene Osment, is an actor. Her mother, Theresa Osment, was an English teacher. Emily was raised as a Roman Catholic. Her father has appeared in many films, including her movie Soccer Mom. Her older brother is Academy Award-nominated actor Haley Joel Osment.
Acting Career Highlights
Early Roles and Breakthrough
Emily Osment started her acting journey in 1997. Her first job was in a commercial for FTD, a flower delivery company. After appearing in many commercials, she made her film debut in 1999. This was in the movie The Secret Life of Girls. That same year, she co-starred with Glenn Close in the TV film Sarah, Plain and Tall: Winter's End. This role earned her a nomination for a Young Artist Award. Emily also appeared briefly in the Smash Mouth music video for "All Star." She then had roles in TV shows like Touched by an Angel, Friends, and 3rd Rock from the Sun. She also played Tara Sparkler in the series Goosebumps.
In 2002, Emily made her big screen debut as Gerti Giggles. This was in Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams. She won a Young Artist Award for this role. Starring in Hannah Montana

In 2005, Emily Osment got a major role on the Disney Channel. She was cast as Lilly Truscott in Hannah Montana. Lilly is the best friend of Miley Stewart, who secretly is pop star Hannah Montana. Lilly's secret identity was Lola Luftnagle. The show's first episode had huge ratings, with 5.4 million viewers. This success led to a Young Artist Award nomination for Emily in 2007. Emily even helped design some clothes for the Hannah Montana Disney collection.
She also had a voice role in the movie Holidaze: The Christmas That Almost Didn't Happen. She sang songs for the movie, including "Don't Ya Just Love Christmas." Emily also sang the chorus for Billy Ray Cyrus's song "You've Got a Friend." She recorded "I Don't Think About It" for the movie The Haunting Hour: Don't Think About It. A music video for this song was released on the DVD and aired on Cartoon Network.

In 2009, Emily Osment signed with Wind-Up Records. She started writing and recording songs with different artists. Her first single, "All the Way Up," came out in August 2009. In October 2009, she released her first EP, All The Right Wrongs. This EP reached No. 1 on the Top Heatseekers chart. Emily described her music as having an "edge" with guitars and drums.
She went on the "Clap Your Hands Tour" in the United States. In March 2010, she announced her first album would be released that summer. "Let's Be Friends" was the first single from the album. Her album, Fight or Flight, came out in October 2010. It featured electropop and synthpop music. The album reached No. 2 on the Top Heatseekers chart. The second single, "Lovesick," was released in 2011.
Emily went on her "Fight or Flight Tour" to promote her album. This tour included concerts in North America, Europe, and Latin America. She also presented an award at the 2010 MTV Europe Music Awards. In 2010, Emily voiced Kendall Perkins in the animated series Kick Buttowski: Suburban Daredevil. In 2011, she starred in the ABC Family movie Cyberbully. This film was about a young woman facing cyberbullying. It received positive reviews and had many viewers. To promote the film, she released the song "Drift."
Recent Work and Bluebiird
In 2013, Emily Osment starred in the TV series Cleaners. She also had a small role in Life with Boys and voiced characters in Family Guy. She returned as the voice of Pep for the movie Beverly Hills Chihuahua 3. Emily announced that she had left Wind-Up Records. She started an independent music project called Ramshackle with her friend Dan Schechter. They performed folk, indie, and country music.
In 2013, Emily appeared in an episode of Two and a Half Men. She also starred in the short film Seasick Sailor, which won an award at the Los Angeles Film Festival. Emily also acted in the drama Kiss Me. In 2014, she filmed the movie No Way Jose. Other Activities
In 2007, Emily Osment joined a campaign called "Smart Girls Rock." This was for a denim clothing brand called Vanilla Star. She promoted her song "I Don't Think About It" with this campaign. Later that summer, Disney released a Hannah Montana clothing line. Emily helped design some of these clothes. Her image was also used on other Hannah Montana products.
Helping Others
Emily Osment has supported many charities. She signed shirts for an online charity auction for CosmoGIRL!. In 2007, she designed a line of shirts for 2lovecollection.com. The money from these sales went to the Make-A-Wish Foundation and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
In 2008, Emily took part in "Disney Channel Earth Day." She and other Disney stars worked with TreePeople. They taught children how to help the environment. Emily was also part of Disney's Friends for Change in 2009. This project encouraged young people to care about the environment.
Emily is a Global Ambassador for STOMP Out Bullying. This is a big organization that fights bullying and cyberbullying among kids and teens. In 2011, she was voted the U.G.L.Y. (Unique Gifted Lovable You) celebrity of the year. This was because of her strong performance in the TV movie Cyberbully.
Personal Life
Emily Osment dated actor Jimmy Tatro from 2013 to 2015. From 2016 to 2021, she was in a relationship with Jim Gilbert. In 2021, Emily started dating Jack Anthony. They announced their engagement in June 2023. They got married in October 2024.
