What Happens in the Movie?
Papi and Chloe's New Family Life
Papi (voiced by George Lopez) and Chloe (voiced by Odette Yustman) are now married. They have five energetic puppies: Papi Jr., Lala, Rosa, Ali, and Pep. These little pups (voiced by Zachary Gordon, Madison Pettis, Chantilly Spalan, Delaney Jones, and Emily Osment) cause lots of funny problems around the house! Papi loves telling them stories about their brave ancestors, the Chihuahua Warriors.
Chloe's owner, Aunt Viv (Susan Blakely), is away for six months. She is in the rain forest doing important medical research. Her niece, Rachel (Erin Cahill), is with her. During this time, Sam (Marcus Coloma), Papi's owner and Rachel's boyfriend, takes care of all the chihuahuas. Sam brings Chloe, Papi, and the puppies to meet his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cortez (Castulo Guerra and Lupe Ontiveros).
Saving the Family Home
Sam soon learns that his parents are having trouble paying for their house. The bank might take their home away. To help, Chloe and the other dogs decide to enter a big dog show. They hope to win the large cash prize to save the house.
An old friend, Delgado, also arrives. He needs Chloe's help with a secret mission. It turns out Delgado wants to tell his two sons why he left them when they were puppies. But he finds it very hard to do.
Later, Papi almost wins the dog show! But he is disqualified because he doesn't have the right papers for his breed. The prize goes to a fancy French poodle named Appoline (Bridgit Mendler).
The Puppies' Big Adventure
After hearing that Delgado's sons are in Los Angeles, the puppies decide to find them. While trying to help, the puppies accidentally get caught up in a bank robbery!
Meanwhile, Chloe, Papi, Pedro (Papi's adopted brother), and Delgado are searching for the puppies. They see the puppies on television, running around at the bank robbery scene! They rush to the bank to find them.
The clever puppies crawl into the robbers' duffel bags. This leads them to Hoffman's Bread Factory. Pedro finds a mask that smells like bread, which helps them follow the trail. They manage to stop the robbery!
Happy Endings
After their big adventure, the dogs return home. They find out they have been given enough money to save the Cortez family's house! Rachel and Aunt Viv have also returned.
Delgado rejoins the police force with his two sons. His sons now understand why he had to leave them. Rachel says yes to Sam's marriage proposal, and everyone celebrates!
