The Acid-water arrowhead (scientific name: Sagittaria engelmanniana) is a unique water plant. It is also known as Engelmann's arrowhead. This plant grows naturally in the eastern parts of North America.
You can find it in many states along the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean. This includes places from Mississippi all the way up to Massachusetts. It also grows in Vermont and the Canadian province of Ontario.

What Does it Look Like?
This plant gets its name from its leaves. The leaves are shaped like an arrow, which is why it's called an "arrowhead." They have three very thin parts, making them look like an arrow.
Where Does it Live?
The Acid-water arrowhead mostly lives in wet areas. It especially likes places with acidic water. These places are often called Sphagnum bogs. Bogs are wetlands where a special type of moss, called Sphagnum moss, grows a lot. The water in these bogs is usually quite acidic.
