Adam and Eve facts for kids
Adam and Eve are important figures in many Abrahamic religions, like Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. In the Book of Genesis from the Bible, and also in the Quran and the Aqdas, they are described as the very first two people created by God. Their story tells us about the beginning of humanity and why things are the way they are in the world.

Adam: The First Human
The second chapter of the Book of Genesis explains how God created Adam. God made Adam from the dust of the ground. Then, God breathed life into him, making him a living being. God also created a beautiful place called the Garden of Eden for Adam. Adam's job was to live there and take care of the garden. He also helped by giving names to all the animals that God had made.
Eve: Adam's Partner
God saw that Adam needed a companion, someone like him. The animals were not good enough friends for Adam. So, God made Eve from one of Adam's ribs. Her name, Eve, means "life." She was created to be Adam's partner and helper.
The Fall and Its Consequences
Chapter three of Genesis tells us that Adam and Eve had everything they needed in the Garden of Eden. There was only one rule God gave them: they were not allowed to eat from the Tree of Knowledge. They could eat from the Tree of Life, but not the Tree of Knowledge.
However, Adam and Eve did not follow God's rule. They ate the Forbidden fruit from the Tree of Knowledge. Because they disobeyed God, they were made to leave the beautiful garden. God also said that women would have challenges when having children. Men would have to work hard to grow food. And all people would eventually return to the earth from which they came.
