Adam James Harrison (born October 30, 1985) is a Welsh cricket player. He is a right-handed batsman and bowls right-arm medium-pace. Adam was born in Newport, Monmouthshire. His father, Stuart, and his brother, David, are also cricketers. Adam went to St Alban's RC High School. He now plays for Abergavenny Cricket Club in South Wales.
Playing for Counties
Adam started playing county cricket for Wales Minor Counties in 2004. His first major game was against Dorset. In the same year, he played his first first-class match for the Marylebone Cricket Club against Sussex at Lord's.
In that game, Adam took three wickets. He also scored 34 runs without being out. The next year, he played his first first-class game for Glamorgan against Sussex. His brother David played with him in this match. They were the first brothers to play for Glamorgan since 1983.
Adam also played in three Twenty20 matches in 2005. He took 5 wickets in these games. His best bowling figures were 2 wickets for 12 runs.
He played one more first-class game for Glamorgan in 2006. In the same year, he played his first List A match. He played two more List A games in 2007. Adam had to stop playing cricket at the end of 2007. This was because of a problem with his ankle.
Even with his games for Glamorgan, Adam played a lot for Wales Minor Counties. He played in 21 Minor Counties Championship games between 2004 and 2010. He also played in ten MCCA Knockout Trophy games.
Playing for England Under-19s
Before playing his first major game, Adam played for the England Under-19s. He played his first Youth Test match against South Africa Under-19s in 2004.
He played nine more Youth Test matches until 2005. He also played against Bangladesh Under-19s and India Under-19s.
Adam's Youth One Day International debut was in the 2004 Under-19 World Cup. He played against Nepal Under-19s. He played five more games in that tournament. He also played four more games in 2005 against India Under-19s.
