Adam Hepburn's Family Life
Adam Hepburn, Master of Hailes, was the son of Sir Patrick Hepburn, 1st Lord Hailes and Ellen Wallace. When he was young, his father arranged his marriage. This was common for noble families back then.
His Marriage Contract
On February 2, 1448, a marriage contract was made between Adam's father and Alexander Home, 1st Lord Home. This agreement arranged for Adam to marry Helen Home, who was Sir Alexander's daughter. Adam was not old enough to marry at that time, but the contract secured their future union.

In 1466, Adam Hepburn was part of a group that took King James III at Linlithgow. This event happened on July 9, 1466. Later, he received a special pardon from the Scottish Parliament for his involvement.
Serving on a Jury
Adam Hepburn of Dunsyre also served as a juror in an important legal case on March 5, 1471. He was one of several well-known noblemen who decided if Andrew Ker of Cessford was guilty of helping a "traitor from England." The jury found Andrew Ker not guilty.
