Adolphus Fitzgerald Washington Jr. (born November 24, 1994) is an American former professional football player. He played as a defensive tackle in the National Football League (NFL). He was known for his strong play on the defensive line.
Washington played college football for the Ohio State Buckeyes. After a successful college career, he was chosen by the Buffalo Bills in the 2016 NFL draft.

Adolphus Washington grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio. He went to Roger Bacon High School for his first year. Then, he transferred to Robert A. Taft Information Technology High School. He played both football and basketball there.
Football Achievements
Washington was a star football player in high school. In his junior year, he made 107 tackles and 19 sacks. A sack is when a defensive player tackles the opposing team's quarterback. As a senior, he had 90 tackles and 23.5 sacks. He was considered a top recruit, meaning many colleges wanted him. He decided to play college football at Ohio State University.
Basketball Achievements
Washington was also a talented basketball player. In his senior year, he scored about 23 points per game. He also grabbed over 14 rebounds per game. He was named the Gatorade Basketball Player of the Year for Ohio. He was even named an All-American in both football and basketball by Parade Magazine. This shows how good he was at both sports!

Buffalo Bills
The Buffalo Bills picked Washington in the third round of the 2016 NFL draft. He was the 80th player chosen overall. In his first year, 2016, he played in 15 games and started 11 of them. He made 21 tackles and 2.5 sacks. In 2017, he played in 15 games again, starting 10. He had 33 tackles and 1 sack.
After playing one game in 2018, the Bills released him. He finished his time with the Bills with a total of 56 tackles and 3.5 sacks.
Other NFL Teams
After leaving the Bills, Washington joined the Dallas Cowboys practice squad in September 2018. A practice squad is a group of players who train with the team but are not on the main roster.
Soon after, in September 2018, the Cincinnati Bengals signed him from the Cowboys' practice squad. He played for the Bengals until he got a knee injury in November 2018. He was then placed on injured reserve. The Bengals waived him in April 2019.
In May 2019, Washington signed with the Miami Dolphins. He was waived by the Dolphins in September 2019.
