Early Life and Exploration
Adrián de Moxica came from a noble family in Spain with roots in the Basque region. In 1498, he joined Christopher Columbus on his third voyage to the Americas. This was a time known as the Age of Discovery, when European explorers sailed to new lands.
The Rebellion Against Columbus
During this journey, Moxica became involved in a rebellion against Christopher Columbus. This uprising happened in 1499 and was led by Francisco Roldán. The rebels were unhappy with Columbus's leadership and how the new lands were being managed.
Adrián de Moxica played a part in this rebellion. Even though the rebellion was successful in challenging Columbus, Moxica was later captured by Columbus's forces. He was then executed.
