Aeronwy Bryn Thomas-Ellis (born March 3, 1943 – died July 27, 2009) was a talented poet, writer, and translator. She was the only daughter of the famous Welsh poet Dylan Thomas and his wife, Caitlin Macnamara. Aeronwy also had two brothers, Llewelyn and Colm.

The Life of Aeronwy Thomas
Aeronwy Thomas was born in London, England. People believe she was named after the River Aeron in Cardiganshire, Wales. Her parents lived near this river for a time.
Growing Up in Wales
Between 1944 and 1945, Aeronwy lived with her family in a bungalow called Majoda. This home overlooked the sea in New Quay, Cardiganshire. In 1949, her family moved to the Boat House in Laugharne, Carmarthenshire, Wales.
Aeronwy's Education
When Aeronwy was 10, her mother enrolled her in the Arts Educational School in Tring, Hertfordshire. This school is now known as Tring Park School for the Performing Arts. She also spent a year at Dartington Hall School in Devon in 1958. After her father passed away in 1953, Aeronwy and her mother moved to Rome. They later moved to Sicily.
Aeronwy Thomas earned a bachelor's degree in English and comparative religion. She studied at Isleworth College. She also received a TEFL diploma, which helps people teach English to speakers of other languages. In 2003, she was given an honorary fellowship from the University of Wales, Swansea. This is a special award for her achievements.
Aeronwy's Career as a Writer
After learning Italian, Aeronwy became a translator of Italian poetry. This means she changed poems from Italian into English. She was also well-known for sharing her father's work with others. She was a supporter of the Dylan Thomas Society. She also served as the President of the Alliance of Literary Societies.
Teaching and Creative Writing
Aeronwy was a popular visiting professor at schools and universities. In the late 1990s, she taught "creative writing" courses from a distance. Students at the Giuseppe Perotti School in Turin, Italy, really enjoyed her classes. In 2007, she became the President of Immagine & Poesia (Image and Poetry). This is an artistic and literary group in Turin.
Aeronwy's Family Life
Aeronwy Thomas was married to Trefor Ellis. They had two children together: a son named Huw Dylan and a daughter named Hannah.
When Aeronwy Passed Away
Aeronwy Thomas died on July 27, 2009, in New Malden, London. She was 66 years old.
