Afgansyah Reza (born May 27, 1989), known simply as Afgan, is a famous singer and actor from Indonesia. He is well-known for his amazing pop and R&B songs.

Afgan's Early Life and School
Afgansyah Reza was born in Jakarta, Indonesia, on May 27, 1989. He grew up in a musical Muslim family. His family is from the Minangkabau group. Afgan is the second of four children. Even though his family loved music, he never had singing lessons when he was young.
He later went to Monash University and earned a degree in Economics.
Afgan's Music and Acting Journey
Afgan's music career began by chance. He and his friends were recording an album just for fun. They were at a studio called Wanna B Instant Recording Studio. The people working there were really impressed by his voice. They offered him a contract to become a professional singer!
His first album was called Confession No.1. It came out in 2008. This album mixed different music styles like jazz, pop, and R&B. Some popular songs from it were "Terima Kasih Cinta" and "Sadis". A music video was made for "Terima Kasih Cinta".
In 2009, Afgan also started acting. He appeared in a movie called Bukan Cinta Biasa
. He even sang the main song for the movie's soundtrack! In 2010, he acted in another film, Cinta 2 Hati , and sang for its soundtrack too.His second album, The One, was released in 2010. In 2011, he sang the theme song for the Southeast Asian Games. This is a big sports event in Southeast Asia.
Afgan continued to release more albums. These included Live to Love in 2013, Sides in 2016, and Dekade in 2018. To celebrate 10 years in music, Afgan held special "Dekade" concerts. He performed in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in November 2018. Then he had another concert in Jakarta in September 2019. Both concerts were completely sold out!
In 2020, Afgan worked with another famous singer, Raisa. They released a song called "Tunjukkan". This was five years after they first sang together. Afgan also released a new song called "I'm Sorry" in February 2021. His first album for a global audience, Wallflower, came out in April 2021. It had 10 songs.
In 2022, Afgan started exploring a different music style. He moved more towards R&B music. Songs like "So Wrong But So Right" show this new direction.
Most recently, on May 26, 2024, Afgan performed at the Java Jazz Festival 2024. He sang with Bebi Romeo.
Awards and Special Mentions
Afgan has won many awards for his music. He won the Best Solo Male Vocalist Award in 2009. This was at the Anugerah Musik Indonesia, which is a big music awards show in Indonesia.
In June 2022, a music website called HipHopDX named him. They said he was one of "10 Indonesian hip hop and R&B artists to check out right now." This shows how talented he is!
