Al-Quadin Muhammad, born on March 28, 1995, is an American professional football player. He plays as a defensive end for the Detroit Lions in the National Football League (NFL). Before joining the NFL, he played college football for the Miami Hurricanes. The New Orleans Saints chose him in the sixth round of the 2017 NFL draft.

Early Life and High School Football
Al-Quadin Muhammad grew up in Irvington, New Jersey. He first went to Paterson Catholic High School. When that school closed, he moved to Don Bosco Preparatory High School in Ramsey, New Jersey.
At Don Bosco Prep, he became a highly-rated defensive end. Experts considered him one of the best high school football players in New Jersey.
College Football Career
In 2013, Muhammad decided to play for the University of Miami. During his first year, he played in five games. He made 6 tackles and had 2.0 sacks.
He missed the entire 2014 season due to a suspension. In 2015, he played in 12 games. He finished that season with 54 tackles and 5.0 sacks. Muhammad missed the 2016 season after being suspended again and later removed from the team. This happened because he was involved in an issue that broke college sports rules.
Professional Football Journey
Starting with the New Orleans Saints
The New Orleans Saints picked Al-Quadin Muhammad in the sixth round of the 2017 NFL draft. He was the 196th player chosen overall. He played his first NFL game for the Saints in Week 1 of the 2017 NFL season. The Saints later released him on September 1, 2018.
Time with the Indianapolis Colts
On September 2, 2018, the Indianapolis Colts picked up Muhammad. He was briefly waived by the Colts but then re-signed to their practice squad. He was later moved back to the active roster on October 13, 2018.
In a game during the 2020 season, Muhammad was removed from the game due to an incident. He re-signed with the Colts on April 1, 2021.
Playing for the Chicago Bears
On March 20, 2022, Muhammad signed a two-year contract with the Chicago Bears. He played for the Bears for one season and was released on February 21, 2023.
Return to the Indianapolis Colts
Muhammad signed a one-year contract to return to the Colts on July 25, 2023. He was released again on August 29, 2023, but then re-signed to their practice squad. On December 6, 2023, the NFL suspended Muhammad for six games without pay. This was because he broke league rules. After the season, he became a free agent.
Short Stint with the Dallas Cowboys
On August 1, 2024, Muhammad signed with the Dallas Cowboys. He was released by the team on August 28, 2024.
Joining the Detroit Lions
On October 7, 2024, Muhammad signed with the Detroit Lions practice squad. He was moved to the active roster on November 9, 2024. In 9 games with the Lions, he had 1 pass deflection, 3.0 sacks, and 11 total tackles. Muhammad re-signed with the Lions on March 19, 2025.
