Alan Douglas Borges de Carvalho (born on July 10, 1989), known simply as Alan, is a professional football player. He plays as a forward, which means he's usually trying to score goals. Alan was born in Brazil, but he now plays for the China national team.
Alan started his football journey in Brazil with clubs like Londrina and Fluminense. Later, in 2010, he moved to the Austrian club Red Bull Salzburg. He became a very important player there. In 2015, after scoring many goals for Salzburg, he joined the Chinese Super League team Guangzhou Evergrande.

Club Career Highlights
Playing in Brazil
Alan was born in Barbosa, São Paulo, Brazil. He joined Londrina in 2007. In 2008, he signed a professional contract with Fluminense. He played for Fluminense for two seasons until 2010. During this time, he scored 11 goals in the league. He also helped his team win the 2010 Brasileiro championship.
Time with Red Bull Salzburg
On August 11, 2010, Alan moved to the Austrian club Red Bull Salzburg. He made his first appearance for the club in a UEFA Champions League qualifying match. In his first season, Alan scored three goals in one game against Sturm Graz in April 2011. He finished that season with 10 league goals.
Alan started the 2011–12 season by scoring three goals in a match against a Latvian team. However, he got a serious knee injury in August 2011. This injury kept him from playing for many months. He returned to training in November 2012. He still managed to score 11 goals in 14 league matches during the 2012–13 season.
The 2013–14 season was very successful for Alan. He scored another hat-trick in February 2014. He also helped his team win both the Austrian Football Bundesliga and the Austrian Cup. This meant they won two major trophies in one season! Alan was the second-highest goal scorer in the league that year.
The next season also started well for Alan. In October 2014, he scored three goals in a UEFA Europa League group stage match. He scored two more goals in November, helping Salzburg become the first Austrian club to win in Scotland. Even though he left the club halfway through the season, he was one of the top goal scorers in the Europa League.
Moving to Guangzhou Evergrande
On January 16, 2015, Alan signed a four-year contract with Chinese Super League club Guangzhou Evergrande Taobao. He was given the number 7 jersey. Soon after joining, Alan suffered another serious knee injury during training. This kept him out of action for several months.
Alan finally returned to play on March 6, 2016, more than a year after his injury. He scored his first goal for Guangzhou in April 2016. He then scored in five more matches in a row. Alan scored 18 goals in 35 games that season. Guangzhou won both the 2016 Chinese Super League and the 2016 Chinese FA Cup.
In 2017, Alan continued to play a key role for Guangzhou Evergrande. He scored the winning goal in the 2017 Chinese FA Super Cup and was named the best player of the tournament. He made 43 appearances and scored 21 goals that season. Guangzhou won their seventh league title in a row.
Alan started the 2018 season by scoring in the 2018 Chinese FA Super Cup, winning the best player award again. He scored three goals in one league match in March. Later that month, he received a suspension for a few matches. Despite this, he scored important goals in the 2018 AFC Champions League.
Loan to Tianjin Tianhai
In February 2019, Alan was loaned to another Chinese club, Tianjin Tianhai. He played his first game for them in March 2019.
Loan to Beijing Guoan
On February 29, 2020, Alan was loaned to Beijing Guoan for the 2020 season. He scored his first goal for the club in August 2020.
Return to Fluminense
On June 21, 2022, Alan rejoined Fluminense in Brazil. His contract with Fluminense ended in August 2023.
Playing for Qingdao West Coast
On February 24, 2024, Alan returned to China. He signed with the Chinese Super League club Qingdao West Coast. He left the club after the 2024 season ended.
International Career
Alan played a few matches for the Brazil under-20 team early in his career.
In 2019, Alan became a Chinese citizen. This meant he could play for the China national football team. He made his debut for China on May 30, 2021. It was a World Cup qualifier match against Guam. He came on as a substitute and scored two goals in a 7–0 win.
