Alan Anthony Silvestri (born March 26, 1950) is an American composer, conductor, and music producer. He is famous for creating the music for many popular movies. You might know his work from films like the Back to the Future series, Forrest Gump, and the Avengers movies.
He has won two Grammy Awards and two Primetime Emmy Awards. He has also been nominated for two Academy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards.

Early Life and Musical Start
Alan Silvestri was born on March 26, 1950. His grandparents came from Italy in 1909 and settled in Teaneck, New Jersey. Alan grew up there and finished high school in 1968. He studied music at Berklee College of Music for two years. Before becoming a famous composer, he was even a drummer in a rock band called the Wildcats in 1966!
Composing for the Big Screen
Alan Silvestri moved to Los Angeles in 1970. He said he was "broke" and didn't even know much about composing for movies back then. In 1972, he got his first chance to score a low-budget action film called The Doberman Gang. Even though he lacked experience, he took the job. He even bought a "how-to-compose" book to help him!
From 1978 to 1983, Alan was the main composer for the TV show CHiPs. He wrote music for 95 episodes of the series.
Working with Robert Zemeckis
A big moment in Alan's career was meeting film director Robert Zemeckis. They first worked together on the movie Romancing the Stone in 1984. Since then, Alan has composed music for almost all of Zemeckis's films. This includes many movies you might have seen:

Academy Awards and Golden Globes
He was nominated for two Academy Awards:

Alan has also won the Saturn Award for Best Music three times for his scores for Predator (1987), Back to the Future Part III (1989/90), and Van Helsing (2004). In 2011, he received the Max Steiner Film Music Achievement Award in Vienna, Austria.
