Albany is a city located in Stearns County, Minnesota, United States. It's a part of the larger St. Cloud area. In 2010, about 2,561 people lived there. By 2020, the population had grown to 2,780.

History of Albany
Albany became an official city in 1890. This means it gained the right to govern itself.
Geography and Location
Albany covers an area of about 2.22 square miles (5.75 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, with a small part being water.
The city is easy to reach by major roads. Interstate 94/U.S. Highway 52 and Minnesota State Highway 238 are two main routes. Other important roads nearby include Stearns County Roads 10, 41, 54, and 157.
Education in Albany
The Albany Area Public School District, known as District #745, serves the students in Albany. It brings together several schools.
- The middle school (grades 6–8) and high school (grades 9–12) share one building in Albany.
- Albany Elementary School teaches students from kindergarten to 5th grade. It's on the same campus as the middle and high schools.
- Another elementary school, Avon Elementary School, is about six miles east in Avon. It serves preschool through 5th grade.
In 2015, the schools made some big improvements. They added better security, more classrooms, a new theater, and a community center. There is also a private school in Albany called Holy Family School. It is a Roman Catholic school for grades K–6.

Sports and Recreation
Albany is part of the annual Lake Wobegon Trail Marathon. This running event takes place every May. The marathon started in 2008.
