Early Projects
When he lived in London, Mielgo worked on exciting projects. He was an Art Director for Passion Pictures. There, he helped create visuals for The Beatles: Rock Band and projects for the music group Gorillaz.

Working on Tron: Uprising
In 2013, Disney hired Mielgo as an Art Director for their animated TV series Tron: Uprising. The director of the show, Charlie Bean, wanted a very special look for the digital world of Tron. This style had not been seen before on TV or in movies. Bean worked closely with Mielgo and other talented artists to create this unique visual style. Mielgo won a Primetime Emmy Award for his amazing art direction on the show.
Creating Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse
In 2015, Mielgo was a Production Designer and Art Director for Sony's movie Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. He made an early animation test for the film. His main goal was to explore how the world of Spider-Man comics could look on screen. He wanted to find a new visual style for the movie. This test animation was not fully finished, but a few shots from it helped set the visual style for the entire film.
Love, Death & Robots
In 2019, Mielgo wrote, designed, and directed an episode called "The Witness" for the Netflix animated series Love, Death & Robots. This series is a collection of different animated short films. "The Witness" was very successful, winning three Emmy Awards and an Annie Award. Mielgo started working on the series after being contacted by its supervising director, Gabriele Pennacchioli.
In 2022, another episode of Love, Death & Robots called "Jibaro" also won an award. Mielgo wrote and directed this episode too. It won the 2022 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Short Form Animated Program.
The Windshield Wiper
In 2021, Mielgo directed an animated short film called The Windshield Wiper. This was a personal project where he shared his ideas about love and relationships. This film won the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film at the 94th Academy Awards in 2022.
Marathon Game Cinematic
In 2025, Mielgo wrote and directed a short film. This film was used to reveal the upcoming extraction shooter game Marathon. The game is being developed by the studio Bungie.
