Albright is a small town in West Virginia, United States. It is located in Preston County, right next to the Cheat River. In 2020, about 260 people lived there. Albright used to be a town where many people worked in coal mining. Today, it is part of the larger Morgantown metropolitan area.

History of Albright
Albright got its name from an early settler named David Albright. The town has seen some tough times. In 1985, a very large flood from the Cheat River damaged or destroyed most of the buildings in the town.
Near Albright, you can find the Virginia Furnace. This old iron furnace was built in 1854. It is an important historical site and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1999.
Across the Cheat River from Albright, there used to be a large power plant. This plant, called the Albright Power Station, used coal to make electricity. It stopped operating in 2012.

Albright covers a total area of about 0.27 square miles (0.71 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, about 0.23 square miles (0.60 square kilometers). A smaller part, about 0.04 square miles (0.11 square kilometers), is water, mainly from the Cheat River.
