Ale Municipality (which in Swedish is Ale kommun) is a special area in western Sweden. It is like a local government district. It is part of Västra Götaland County.
The main town where the local government is located is Nödinge-Nol. This town is found in a place called Alafors.
Ale Municipality was created in 1974. Before that, there were three smaller areas: Nödinge, Skepplanda, and Starrkärr. They all joined together to form the new municipality. The name "Ale" comes from an old area called Ale Hundred, which covered almost the same land.
This municipality was also home to one of the first indoor bandy arenas ever built. Bandy is a sport similar to ice hockey. This arena was the first of its kind in the Götaland region of Sweden.
