Alexander Bazzie (born August 5, 1990) is a former professional gridiron football player from Liberia. He played as a defensive lineman. This means he was part of the defense, trying to stop the other team from scoring. Alex Bazzie played for teams like the BC Lions and Edmonton Eskimos in the Canadian Football League (CFL). He also spent time with teams in the National Football League (NFL), including the Indianapolis Colts, Carolina Panthers, and Arizona Cardinals.

Alex Bazzie's Early Life
Alex Bazzie was born in Liberia. Later, his family moved to Maryland in the United States. He went to Northwood High School in Silver Spring, Maryland. After high school, he spent a year at Fork Union Military Academy. This helped him improve his grades and get ready for college. He then played college football at Marshall University.
Alex Bazzie's Football Career
After college, Alex Bazzie wanted to play professional football. He was not chosen in the 2014 NFL draft. This means no NFL team picked him right away. However, he got a chance to try out for the Cleveland Browns at their rookie camp in June 2014.
Playing for the BC Lions
On May 19, 2014, Alex Bazzie signed with the BC Lions in the Canadian Football League (CFL). In his first season (2014), he played in 17 games. He made 43 tackles and got 10 sacks. A sack is when a defensive player tackles the quarterback behind the line of scrimmage.
Alex Bazzie continued to be a key player for the Lions. Over three seasons, he played in 50 games. He made 83 tackles on defense and 8 tackles on special teams. He also had 29 sacks and forced the other team to drop the ball twice. In early 2017, the Lions let him go. This allowed him to try and get a contract with an NFL team.
Trying Out for NFL Teams
On January 9, 2017, Alex Bazzie signed a contract with the Indianapolis Colts. However, he was later released by the Colts on May 1, 2017.
A few days later, on May 6, 2017, he signed with the Carolina Panthers. But he was also released by the Panthers on May 30, 2017.
Then, on June 6, 2017, Alex Bazzie signed with the Arizona Cardinals. He played with them during the preseason. But he was released by the Cardinals on September 2, 2017.
Back in the CFL
After his time trying out for NFL teams, Alex Bazzie returned to the BC Lions. He signed a new contract with them on September 19, 2017.
For the 2018 and 2019 CFL seasons, Alex Bazzie played for the Edmonton Eskimos.
On February 11, 2020, he signed with the Toronto Argonauts. However, the 2020 CFL season was canceled due to a global event. So, he did not play that year.
On October 8, 2021, Alex Bazzie signed with the BC Lions for a third time. He played in six games that season. He made six tackles and had one sack. He became a free agent again in February 2022.
