Alexandra Michel Orlando (born January 19, 1987) is a retired rhythmic gymnast from Canada. She is known for her amazing performances. Alexandra represented Canada at the Olympic Games, the Commonwealth Games, and the Pan American Games.

Early Life and Training
Alexandra Orlando was born in Toronto, Ontario. She attended Havergal College while growing up. She trained at the Ritmika RG Club. Her coach was Mimi Masleva, who came from Bulgaria.
National Success
Alexandra was incredibly successful in Canada. She won every rhythmic gymnastics event at the Canadian National Championships. She achieved this amazing feat in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007.
In 2007, she also won all the individual event finals at the Elite Canada rhythmic gymnastics competition. She also took home the overall "all-around" crown.
International Competitions
World Championships and Olympics
In September 2007, Alexandra competed at the World Championships. She finished ninth in the all-around competition. This great result helped her qualify for the Olympic Games in Beijing, China. At the Beijing Olympics, she placed 18th.
Commonwealth Games Achievements
Alexandra made history at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, Australia. She won all six rhythmic gymnastics events! These events were part of the gymnastics program at the games.
She won gold medals in:
- All-Around
- Ball
- Clubs
- Ribbon
- Rope
- Team
Winning six gold medals at one Commonwealth Games is a rare achievement. She joined a very small group of athletes who have done this. These athletes include Graham Smith (1978), Susie O'Neill (1998), and Ian Thorpe (2002).
Pan American Games Achievements
Alexandra also had great success at the Pan American Games.
- In 2007, she won three gold medals in Rio de Janeiro (Clubs, Rope, Hoop).
- In 2003, she won four silver medals and three bronze medals in Santo Domingo.
Life After Gymnastics
Alexandra currently studies commerce at the University of Toronto. A book about her journey, called Alexandra Orlando: In Pursuit Of Victory, was written by Martin Avery in 2006.
Alexandra has Italian family roots. Her father is from Sicily and her mother is from Salerno. She has many relatives who still live in Italy.
