History of Alexandria
Alexandria was started in 1830. The village played an important part in the Underground Railroad. This was a secret network that helped enslaved people find freedom.
In 2018, the people of Alexandria voted on an important issue. They decided by a large margin not to join St. Albans Township. About 92% of voters wanted Alexandria to remain its own village.
Where is Alexandria?
Alexandria is in the western part of Licking County. It is located along State Route 37. The village is about 6 miles (10 km) southeast of Johnstown. It is also about 25 miles (40 km) northeast of Columbus.
The United States Census Bureau says the village covers a total area of about 0.24 square miles (0.63 square kilometers). All of this area is land.
