Alina Fernández Revuelta was born on March 19, 1956. She is known as a Cuban anti-communist activist. This means she speaks out against the communist government in Cuba.

Alina is the daughter of Fidel Castro, who was a famous leader of Cuba. Her mother is Natalia Revuelta Clews. Alina is one of the most well-known critics of the Cuban government. She also criticized the rule of her father and her uncle, Raúl Castro. She lived in Cuba until 1993.

About Alina Fernández

Alina Fernández grew up with her mother, Natalia "Naty" Revuelta Clews, and her stepfather, Orlando Fernández. Her mother was born in Havana, Cuba, in 1925.

In Cuba, Alina worked as a model. She was also a director for a Cuban fashion company. In 1993, when she was 37 years old, Alina left Cuba. She used fake documents and a wig to help her escape to Spain. A Cuban immigrant named Elena Díaz-Verson Amos helped Alina leave the country. Alina then lived with Ms. Díaz-Verson for several years in Columbus, Georgia, in the United States.

Alina Fernández has one daughter. In an interview in 2008, she shared that she felt closer to her uncle, Raúl Castro, than to her father. Raúl Castro took over as Cuba's president after his brother, Fidel. Alina said that Raúl Castro helped her many times.

She explained that Raúl was the person to ask for help with everyday problems. She said he always helped her right away. In her family, he was the only one who offered practical help. Alina mentioned that Fidel was not helpful with these kinds of issues.

Her Book and Lawsuit

Alina Fernández wrote a book about her life. Her aunt, Juanita Castro, sued Alina because of some parts in the book. Juanita felt that the book said untrue things about her and about Fidel's parents, Ángel Castro and Lina Ruz.

In 2005, a court in Spain decided that Alina and her publisher had to pay money to Juanita Castro. Juanita said that people should not "offend Fidel's family."

Later, an English version of the book was published. It was called Castro's Daughter: An Exile's Memoir of Cuba. This English version did not include the parts that Juanita Castro found offensive.
