Music Career
The 1980s: A Star is Born
Alisha's first albums included Jaadoo, Babydoll, and Aah... Alisha!. She was introduced to Bollywood music by the famous composer Bappi Lahiri. Together, they created many hit disco songs for movies like Dance Dance and Love Love Love.
During this time, she was a playback singer for many top actresses, including Sridevi, Juhi Chawla, and Madhuri Dixit. This means she would sing the songs, and the actresses would lip-sync to them in the movies.
One of her biggest hits from this era was "Kaate Nahin Katthe" from the movie Mr. India (1987). She sang this duet with the legendary singer Kishore Kumar.
The 1990s: Queen of Indipop
In the 1990s, Alisha became a superstar. She worked with different music directors and had many hit songs in Bollywood films. Some of these hits were "Ruk Ruk Ruk" from Vijaypath and "Tere Ishq Mein Nachenge" from Raja Hindustani.

After the success of Made in India, Alisha decided to focus on her own pop albums instead of playback singing for a while. During this time, she had a major disagreement with music director Anu Malik, and they stopped working together for many years.
2000s: A Big Comeback
Alisha returned to singing for movies with the song "Oh My Darling" in Mujhse Dosti Karoge! (2002). She also patched things up with Anu Malik, and they worked together again on the music for the movie Ishq Vishk.
In 2005, Alisha's career soared to new heights with the song "Kajra Re" from the movie Bunty Aur Babli. The song was a massive success and is still popular today. It won her a Filmfare Award, which is a very important award in India.
