Madhuri Dixit Nene (born on 15 May 1967) is a famous Indian actress and TV star. She has acted in over 70 Hindi movies, becoming a huge star across India. People admire her beauty, amazing dancing, and the strong characters she plays. She was one of the few actresses who could lead movies on her own, like male stars, in an industry mostly led by men. She has won many awards, including six Filmfare Awards. In 2008, the Government of India gave her the Padma Shri, a very high honor for her work.
Born and raised in Mumbai, Madhuri Dixit started acting in 1984 in the movie Abodh. After a few movies that didn't do well, she became famous with Tezaab (1988). She then starred in many successful romantic movies like Dil (1990), Beta (1992), Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! (1994), and Dil To Pagal Hai (1997). Early Life and Education
Madhuri Dixit was born on 15 May 1967 in Mumbai (then called Bombay). Her parents are Shankar and Snehlata Dixit. She has two older sisters and an older brother.
From a young age, Madhuri loved to dance. She started learning Kathak dance at age three and trained for eight years. She became a professional Kathak dancer.
She went to Divine Child High School in Andheri. Besides her studies, she enjoyed activities like drama. Madhuri first wanted to become a microbiologist. She studied microbiology in college for six months. But then, she decided to leave college to become a full-time actress in movies.
Acting Career
Early Roles and Big Break (1980s)
Madhuri Dixit started her movie career in 1984 with the drama Abodh. The movie didn't do well, but critics liked her acting. Her next few movies also didn't succeed.
In 1988, Madhuri finally became well-known. She starred as Mohini in the action drama Tezaab. In the movie, Mohini is a poor woman forced to dance to earn money. Tezaab became the highest-grossing film of the year. Madhuri received her first nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Actress. This movie made her a leading actress in Hindi cinema.

In 1995, she reunited with director Indra Kumar for Raja. She played Madhu, a rich girl who loves her childhood friend. This movie was the third highest-grossing film of the year. Its success was partly due to Madhuri's huge popularity.

Personal Life
Madhuri Dixit married Shriram Madhav Nene, a heart surgeon from Los Angeles, California, on 17 October 1999. Their wedding was a traditional ceremony in Southern California. Shriram Nene had never seen any of her movies and didn't know she was a celebrity. Madhuri said this was important because he got to know her as a person first.
After her marriage, Madhuri lived in Denver, Colorado, for over ten years. On 17 March 2003, she had her first son, Arin. Two years later, on 8 March 2005, she had her second son, Ryan. She has said that being a mother is "amazing."
In October 2011, Madhuri moved back to Mumbai with her family. She said she always loves being in Mumbai because it feels like coming home.
In 2018, Madhuri and her husband started their own production company, RnM Moving Pictures. They both also earned orange belts in taekwondo.
