Allison Ivy Shearmur (born October 23, 1963 – died January 19, 2018) was an American film executive and producer. She helped create many popular movies. Allison worked for big companies like Walt Disney Studios, Universal Pictures, Paramount Pictures, and Lionsgate.
She helped make movies like the American Pie and Jason Bourne series. She also worked on The Hunger Games films. Other famous movies she produced include the live-action Cinderella. She even worked on Star Wars movies like Rogue One and Solo.
Her Career in Movies
Allison Shearmur studied law at the University of Pennsylvania Law School and the USC Gould School of Law. She became a lawyer in California. While in college, she won a contest. The prize was lunch with Stanley Jaffe, a movie executive. Stanley Jaffe became a very important mentor for her.
After finishing her studies, Allison started working at Columbia TriStar. She was a manager in the comedy department. From 1994 to 1997, she worked at Disney as a vice-president. She helped with movies like George of the Jungle. Later, she joined Universal Pictures. There, she was an executive vice-president of production. She worked on films such as Along Came Polly and Erin Brockovich. She also helped with the American Pie and Bourne movie series.
Allison then spent two years at Paramount Pictures. She was a co-president of production. She oversaw movies like The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and The Spiderwick Chronicles. Other films included Zodiac, Dreamgirls, and Charlotte's Web. In 2008, she moved to Lionsgate. She became the president of motion picture production there. At Lionsgate, she produced the first two Hunger Games movies. She was an executive producer for the last two Hunger Games films.
Later, Allison Shearmur started her own company. It was called Allison Shearmur Productions. In 2017, her company was an executive producer for the TV movie Dirty Dancing.
Her Life and Family
Allison Shearmur was born as one of four babies at the same time (a quadruplet). Her parents were Martin and Rhoda Brecker. She grew up in a traditional Jewish family. She married a film composer named Edward Shearmur. They had two children together. In 2014, their house was shown in House Beautiful magazine.
Allison Shearmur passed away on January 19, 2018. She was 54 years old and died from lung cancer. She died in Los Angeles. Some movies were dedicated to her memory. These include Solo: A Star Wars Story, The One and Only Ivan, and Chaos Walking.
