Allyn-Grapeview was a special type of community called a census-designated place (CDP) in Mason County, Washington, United States. A CDP is an area that looks like a town but isn't officially incorporated as one.
In 2010, this CDP was divided into two separate places: Allyn and Grapeview. Together, these two areas had a population of 2,917 people in 2010.
The local newspaper, the North Bay Review, serves the Allyn-Grapeview area. State Route 3 is the main road in Allyn. Grapeview is connected to Route 3 by Grapeview Loop Road.
Grapeview is also home to a small Puget Sound Maritime Museum. You can also find the Fair Harbor Marina there.

Exploring Allyn-Grapeview's Location
Allyn-Grapeview is located on the western side of North Bay. This area is part of Puget Sound's Case Inlet.
The total area of Allyn-Grapeview was about 13.8 square miles (35.7 square kilometers). Out of this, 8.5 square miles (21.9 square kilometers) was land. The rest, about 5.3 square miles (13.8 square kilometers), was water.

Most of the people living there were White (about 93.5%). There were also smaller groups of African American, Native American, Asian, and Pacific Islander residents. About 1.7% of the population was Hispanic or Latino.
The average age of people in Allyn-Grapeview in 2000 was 51 years old. Many residents were between 45 and 64 years old (33%). A good number were also 65 years or older (26.5%).

A Look Back in Time
From the 1870s to the 1920s, people in Grapeview (which was once called Detroit) and other nearby communities relied on steamboats for transportation. These boats traveled along Case Inlet, helping people and goods move around.
