History of Alta Sierra

Alta Sierra was created by property developers in the 1960s. It was designed as a golf course community. This means homes were built around the Alta Sierra Country Club, which has an 18-hole golf course. The golf course opened in 1964.

The community also has its own airport. It is owned by the community members and has a runway that is 2,800 feet long. Alta Sierra is located near California State Highway 49. It sits at about 2,300 feet above sea level. It is between the cities of Grass Valley, California to the north and Auburn, California to the south.

Alta Sierra has a small area with businesses. You can find restaurants, a gas station, a market, and other services there. There is also an elementary school and a motel in the community.
