Alvin Dewayne Bailey (born August 26, 1991) is a former American professional football player. He played as a guard in the National Football League (NFL). Alvin played college football for the Arkansas Razorbacks. He joined the Seattle Seahawks in 2013 as an undrafted free agent. This means he wasn't chosen in the NFL Draft, but could still sign with any team.
Early Life and High School
Alvin Bailey grew up in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. He went to Broken Arrow Senior High School. There, he was a very important player on the offensive line for three years. He helped protect the quarterback and open paths for running backs.
Experts saw him as a promising player. He received scholarship offers from several universities. Alvin chose to play for the Arkansas Razorbacks. He picked them over teams like Nebraska and Kansas State.
College Football Career
Alvin started his college career in 2009. He spent that year as a "redshirt," meaning he practiced but didn't play in games. This allowed him to gain experience without using a year of his playing eligibility.
In 2010, he became a starter for the Razorbacks. He played in all 13 games. The Arkansas offensive line was special because the same five players started every game. In 2011, Alvin was recognized as a Second-team All-SEC player. This means he was one of the best guards in his college conference. He continued to start all 12 games in his junior year.
In December 2012, Alvin decided to leave college early. He chose to enter the 2013 NFL Draft. This meant he would skip his final year of college eligibility. He then began preparing for the NFL Combine. This event allows college players to show off their skills to NFL teams.
Professional Football Career
Even though some thought Alvin would be picked in the third or fourth round of the draft, he was not selected. However, he quickly signed with the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent.
Alvin played for the Seattle Seahawks from 2013 to 2015. During his time there, the Seahawks were very successful. They won Super Bowl XLVIII in 2014, which is the biggest championship in American football. The team also played in Super Bowl XLIX the following year.
In 2016, Alvin signed with the Cleveland Browns.
