Amatique Bay facts for kids
Amatique Bay is a large bay located in Central America. It is part of the Gulf of Honduras, which is a bigger area of the Caribbean Sea. This bay touches the eastern coast of two countries: Guatemala and Belize.
Most of Amatique Bay is in Guatemala. A smaller part, towards the northwest, belongs to Belize. The bay stretches from a town called Santo Tomás de Castilla in the south. It goes all the way up to Punta Gorda in Belize, which is in the north. This is where the bay opens up to the wider Caribbean Sea. A small piece of land, shaped like a finger, sticks out into the water. This is called Punta de Manabique. It helps mark the southeastern edge of the bay.
