Amyr's Amazing Journeys
First Solo Ocean Crossing
Amyr Klink was the first person ever to row across the South Atlantic Ocean alone. He started his journey from Lüderitz, Namibia, on June 10, 1984. One hundred days later, on September 18, 1984, he arrived safely in Camaçari, Brazil. He wrote a book about this incredible trip called 100 Days Between Sea and Sky. For this journey, his food was specially made into small, freeze-dried packages.
Sailing to Both Poles
Amyr has written seven books about his many voyages. One of his famous books, Between Two Poles, tells the story of his trip from Antarctica all the way to the Arctic Pole. This huge adventure started in 1989 and took 642 days! Amyr even helped build the special polar ship he used for this journey. He named the ship Paratii, after the town of Paraty in Brazil.
Around Antarctica Alone
In 1999, Amyr Klink finished a solo trip around Antarctica. He did this in 88 days. People recognized him for taking the shortest and most dangerous route around the icy continent.
Exploring the Arctic Circle
In 2002, Amyr started a new project called "A Trip to China." This project aimed to travel around the world using a sea path that no one had explored before: the Arctic Circle.
The first part of this project was a success. It happened between January 30 and April 6, 2002. Later, Amyr and his crew left the Antarctic Circle. They visited Margarida Bay in the Bellingshausen Sea, which is very far south in the Antarctic Peninsula. From there, their ship stopped in South Georgia before returning to Brazil.
About Amyr's Life

He married Marina Bandeira in 1996. They have three daughters. In late 2021, Amyr's daughter, Tamara, completed her own solo sail across the Atlantic Ocean. She had joined her father on many expeditions before her own big adventure.
