Anabela Atijas (born Anabela Bukva on January 26, 1975), known simply as Anabela, is a singer and dancer from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia. She began her music journey in 1993 as part of the group Funky G. In 2009, she started her own solo career. She has released one studio album called Igra sudbine (2010) and many popular songs. One of her biggest hits was "Beograd" in 2011, which she recorded with Elitni Odredi and DJ Shone.

Early Life and Moves

Anabela Bukva was born in Goražde, which was part of Yugoslavia at the time. Her father, Ahmed Bukva, was Bosniak, and her mother, Jadranka Polutak, was Bosnian Serb. Her parents separated when she was very young. Anabela chose to live with her father, and they were very close. She loved music from an early age, often singing duets with her father while he played the guitar.

She grew up with her father's two younger half-brothers, who were like brothers to her. Anabela was a bit of a tomboy and even practiced karate. She finished primary school in Goražde. At 13, she moved to Sarajevo to study foreign languages in high school. She lived there for two years, moving many times. She also has two half-sisters from her father's side, Ilda and Aida.

In late 1990, Anabela went to Switzerland with her boyfriend, Nikola. Soon after, the country of Yugoslavia began to break apart, and wars started, including one in Bosnia. Nikola went back to Bosnia to be with his family, but sadly, he was one of the first victims of the war. Anabela stayed in Switzerland for a short time. She couldn't go back to Bosnia because the borders were closed. With no family in Switzerland, she decided to move to Belgrade, Serbia.

In Belgrade, Nikola's family helped her settle in. She found a job as a secretary. One day, she saw an advertisement for the Đogani Dance School and decided to join. Gazmen "Gagi" Đogani, a dance teacher, was impressed by Anabela. They quickly fell in love and spent hours creating dances to popular Western songs.

Music Career

1993–2009: Funky G Years

Gagi decided to form a music group in 1993. A singer named Knez suggested that Anabela should be the main singer. Gagi agreed and asked Anabela to join his group, Funky G. At first, Anabela was not sure, but they recorded a song called Samo u snu and made a music video.

Anabela then moved to Sweden to live with her mother and gained refugee status there. Meanwhile, Gagi replaced her in the group. However, their song became very popular in Serbia. Gagi called Anabela many times, asking her to come back for a big concert. Anabela was still unsure until she saw a news report on CNN about Belgrade's nightlife. She heard her song playing in many clubs! Finally convinced, she returned to Serbia. She was surprised by how famous she had become. To improve her singing, Anabela took vocal lessons.

In 1995, Anabela became pregnant. She and Gagi saved money to buy an apartment. Their first daughter, Luna, was born in 1996. Later, she had another daughter named Nina.

2009–Present: Solo Journey

After some challenges in their relationship, Anabela and Gagi divorced in April 2009. Anabela then left Funky G to start her own solo music career. She later married businessman Andrej Atijas in 2012. They had a daughter named Blankica in 2013. They divorced in 2019 but remained good friends. After living in Sarajevo for a year, Anabela moved back to Belgrade. She has citizenship in both Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia.

In September 2009, Anabela released her first solo song, Moj dragi. Soon after, in October 2009, she released a duet called Sto ratova with Mia Borisavljević. In early 2010, Anabela joined the reality show Big Brother to promote her new solo career. She finished in second place.

On July 21, 2010, Anabela released her first solo album, Igra sudbine. It was very popular and sold 50,000 copies. After this successful start, Anabela continued to release new songs. In 2011, she released Ne zovi me and Paparazzi with Mirko Gavrić. Her song "Beograd" with Elitni Odredi and DJ Shone became a huge hit across the Balkans, with over 50 million views on YouTube. This is her most successful project so far.

In 2012, Anabela performed at the Grand Festival with her song Lutka bez ruku. She also worked with Mirko Gavrić and Zile on the song Ljubi, ljubi. After giving birth to Blankica in May 2013, she released the single Lujke moje. In 2014, she performed at the Pink Music Festival with the song Muzej promašenih ljubavi.

In September 2015, Anabela joined the reality show Farma. She had to leave after seven days due to illness. She then released the hit song Noćna patrola. She also released two duets: Preventiva with Boban Rajović and U mraku with Đuka Đuranović.

In 2016, she released Emotivno labilna and collaborated with the group Luna on Bidermajer. In 2017, she won first place at the MakFest festival in Macedonia with the song Od utro do večer, performed with Zoran Iliev. Later that year, she released Zabranjeno.

In 2018, she had a comeback song Vila veštica with Funky G, but she did not stay with the group for long. In 2020, she participated in the reality show Zadruga and finished in 4th place. From 2020 to 2023, she released singles like Ples sa vukovima, Ja sve, ti ne with Nenad Dimitrović, and U januaru.
