Anais Granofsky (born May 14, 1973) is a talented Canadian actress, screenwriter, producer, and director. She is most famous for playing Lucy Fernandez in the popular Degrassi TV shows. You might remember her as a main character in Degrassi Junior High (from 1987 to 1989) and Degrassi High (from 1989 to 1991). She even returned to play Lucy in a couple of episodes of Degrassi: The Next Generation in the early 2000s.
Early Life and Family
Anais Granofsky was born in Springfield, Ohio, in the United States. Her mother is African American, and her father is Canadian. Her father's family has a background that includes Jewish people from Russia and Poland. Her family later moved to Toronto, Canada. Anais is also the granddaughter of a well-known businessman, Phil Granovsky.
Anais Granofsky's Career
Anais started her acting journey when she was very young. In 1985, she appeared as Sophie of the Mighty Mites on a show called "Owl TV". After that, she joined the cast of the Canadian children's TV series The Kids of Degrassi Street.
Her most famous role began in 1987 when she started playing Lucy Fernandez in Degrassi Junior High. She continued this role in Degrassi High until 1991. She also appeared in the TV movie School's Out in 1992, which was the series finale.
After her time on Degrassi, Anais appeared in other TV shows. These included Counterstrike, Forever Knight, and even Goosebumps.
Anais moved to New York to study film at NYU. She then came back to Toronto and kept acting in movies and TV for about ten years. In 1997, she co-starred in a show called Fast Track. She also had recurring roles in popular series like La Femme Nikita and Soul Food.
Besides acting, Anais Granofsky is also a talented writer and director. She has written and directed several films, including On Their Knees (where she also acted) and The Limb Salesman. She has also directed episodes for TV shows. These include Degrassi: The Next Generation, Bliss, and Da Kink in My Hair.
Anais is married to her husband, Craig. They have three children together. One of their children is the basketball player Toby Fournier.
