Anders Jacobsson and Sören Olsson facts for kids
Anders Jacobsson (born 1963) and Sören Olsson (born 1964) are two Swedish cousins. They are famous writers of books for children and young adults. They are best known for their popular book series about Sune and Bert. They also wrote books about Tuva-Lisa and Emanuel. Besides books, they have written scripts for several TV shows.
Their ideas for stories come from their own childhoods. They also get inspiration from talking to young people when they visit schools. Their imagination plays a big part too! Sören Olsson drew the pictures for the Sune books and the first Bert book. Later Bert books were illustrated by Sonja Härdin. When their stories are read aloud, Anders reads the Sune stories, and Sören reads the Bert stories.
The cousins also made music together as a group called Hemliga byrån. Their most famous song is Hej, hej, hemskt mycket hej. This song became a big hit in Sweden in 1987.
The Sune and Bert books have been published in many countries. These include the US, Germany, Russia, Austria, Switzerland, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, the Netherlands, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Spain.

As a child, Anders Jacobsson lived in different towns in Sweden. These towns included Karlskoga, Köping, Lidköping, and Arvika. He went to school in these places.
In the early 1980s, Anders worked as an assistant teacher. He taught at a school in Karlskoga. This job helped him understand children's games, feelings, and what they liked to read. He noticed that not much had changed since he was in school. Another assistant teacher said he was going to write a children's book. Anders thought he could do it too! He started writing about a seven-year-old boy named Sune.
Anders recorded an episode of Sune in his home studio. He sent it to a local radio show called "Allemansradion". This show let people send in their own recordings. Someone at the radio station really liked Sune. They asked Anders to create a whole series for the local radio. Soon, Sune stories were broadcast all over local radio stations. Anders sent his Sune script to a big publisher in Stockholm. They didn't like the idea of turning a radio series into a book. But Anders kept writing for local radio because Sune was so popular. Later, another book publisher wanted to release the Sune book. Sören Olsson became the illustrator. The first Sune book, Sagan om Sune ("The Tale About Sune"), came out in 1984.

Born | Leif Sören Gustav Olsson 16 March 1964 |
When Sören Olsson was a child, he loved to draw. He drew people and houses and imagined many adventures. He often wondered about the role of school in society. He really wanted to become a pop music star! He started by playing the electric bass in local pop bands. When he was 18, he even started his own record label.
Sören also began working in theatre. Soon, he wanted to become an actor. He applied to several acting schools. He took a special course in Örebro. At the same time, his cousin Anders moved to Örebro for his studies. This is when the two cousins started working together.
How Anders and Sören Started Working Together
In 1985, Anders applied to an academy. He didn't know that Sören had applied to a school in the same town. When Anders continued writing about Sune, Sören also started helping with the books. From the book Självklart, Sune onwards, they worked together on the stories.
While writing Sune och Svarta Mannen ("Sune and Black Men"), the writers wanted to give Sune a break. They had him move to another town in the story. This allowed them to work on a new character: Bert, who wrote a diary. They started working on Berts dagbok ("Bert's Diary"). But they still wanted to continue with Sune. So, the Sune series and the Bert series both continued at the same time.
The Bert series takes place in a made-up town called Öreskoga. Its name is a mix of the writers' hometowns, Örebro and Karlskoga. The Sune series is also set in a fictional town, which they named "Glimmerdagg".
