Player stats at PFR

Andre Fluellen is a former American football player. He was a defensive tackle, a position where players try to stop the other team's offense. He was born on March 7, 1985. Andre played college football at Florida State University. He was later chosen by the Detroit Lions in the 2008 NFL draft.

Growing Up and High School Football

Andre Fluellen grew up in Cartersville, Georgia. He went to Cartersville High School. There, he played on both the offensive and defensive lines for his school's football team. He was very good at stopping the other team. In his junior year, he made 88 tackles and 10 sacks. A sack is when a defensive player tackles the opposing team's quarterback.

Many colleges wanted Andre to play for them. He visited several schools like Vanderbilt and Florida. In the end, he decided to play for the Florida State Seminoles.

College Football Career

Andre started his college football journey at Florida State University. He spent his first year as a "redshirt," which means he practiced with the team but did not play in games. This allowed him to train and get stronger.

First Years at Florida State

In 2004, Andre played in all 12 games for Florida State. He was a backup player and made six tackles. A tackle is when a player stops the ball carrier. The next year, as a sophomore, he became a starting defensive tackle. He made 26 tackles and helped pressure the opposing team's quarterback many times.

Taking on a Bigger Role

As a junior, Andre had a big job. He had to replace a very good player at the nose guard position. This is a tough spot on the defensive line. When another player got hurt, Andre stepped up and became the starting nose guard for the rest of the season. He finished the year with 28 tackles, which was the most among all defensive linemen on his team.

Before his senior year, ESPN named Andre one of the "ten seniors to watch." He was expected to have a great season. However, he missed some games because of an elbow injury. Even with the injury, he still made 21 tackles and two sacks.

Playing in the NFL

After college, Andre's chances of being drafted by an NFL team seemed lower because of his injury. But the Detroit Lions still picked him in the third round of the 2008 NFL draft. This was a big achievement!

Time with the Detroit Lions

Andre played for the Detroit Lions for four years. He played in 51 games and made 48 tackles. He also had 2.5 sacks. He was released by the Lions in 2012.

Moving to Other Teams

After leaving the Lions, Andre signed with the Miami Dolphins in September 2012. He played in two games for them before being released.

Later that year, Andre signed with the Detroit Lions again! He played in three more games for them.

In 2013, Andre signed with the Chicago Bears. However, he was released by them a month later.

Back to the Lions (Again!)

Andre signed with the Detroit Lions for a third time in July 2013. He was cut before the season started but then re-signed with them in September. In 2014, he played in 8 games and had 10 tackles and 2 sacks.

Short Time with the Buffalo Bills

In 2015, Andre signed with the Buffalo Bills. He was released and re-signed a few times that year.

One Last Stint with the Lions

Andre Fluellen signed with the Detroit Lions for a fourth time in October 2015. This was the ninth time he had signed a contract with the Lions! He was later released from the team in December 2015, becoming a free agent.

Andre Fluellen had a long career in the NFL, often returning to play for the Detroit Lions.
