Andre Strode, born on June 19, 1972, is a former American football player. He played as a defensive back in the Canadian Football League (CFL) for five seasons. His teams included the Birmingham Barracudas, BC Lions, and Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Before going pro, he played college football at Colorado State University.

Early Life and School

Andre Strode was born in Denver, Colorado, on June 19, 1972. He grew up there and went to Montbello High School.

College Football Career

Andre played college football for the Colorado State Rams from 1991 to 1994. He was very good at catching the ball from the other team. In 1993, he caught three interceptions and ran two of them back for touchdowns! This was tied for the most in the country that year. During his college career, he made 246 tackles.

Playing Professional Football

Andre Strode played in the Canadian Football League (CFL) for several teams.

Birmingham Barracudas (1995)

In 1995, Andre played all 18 games for the Birmingham Barracudas. He had a fantastic season, making 65 tackles and catching seven interceptions. These seven interceptions were tied for second-most in the entire CFL! He was even named a CFL Southern All-Star that year.

BC Lions (1996–1998)

The BC Lions picked Andre in the 1996 CFL Dispersal Draft. He started all 18 games for them in 1996. He continued to play well, making 59 tackles and catching three more interceptions, one of which he ran back for a touchdown. Because of his great play, he was named a CFL Western All-Star.

In 1997, Andre got hurt in the first game and couldn't play for the rest of the season. He came back strong in 1998, playing in 17 games and making 53 tackles.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers (1999)

Andre finished his CFL career playing six games for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 1999. He made 24 tackles for the team.
