Early Life and Education

Andrea is the youngest of three children. She went to La Serna High School in Whittier, California. After high school, she studied English at Whittier College. She graduated from there in 1999.

Later, Andrea earned another degree from the University of York in England. This degree was in Women's Studies. She even worked at Whittier College for a while, helping with international student programs.

Her Acting Journey

Andrea Barber started acting when she was young. Her first big role was on the TV show Days of Our Lives. She played a character named Carrie Brady from 1982 to 1986.

Her most famous role began in 1987. She played Kimmy Gibbler on the popular sitcom Full House. Kimmy was the best friend of D.J. Tanner, one of the main characters. Andrea played Kimmy until the show ended in 1995. Kimmy was known for being quirky and a bit silly, which made her a fan favorite.

After Full House finished, Andrea took a break from acting. She focused on her personal life for many years.

Returning to the Screen

In 2012, Andrea Barber briefly returned to play Kimmy Gibbler for a short comedy sketch. Then, in 2016, she officially came back to acting. She reprised her role as Kimmy Gibbler in Fuller House. This was a new show that continued the story of Full House.

She starred alongside her former co-stars, Candace Cameron Bure and Jodie Sweetin. Fuller House was very popular and ran for five seasons. It concluded in June 2020.

More recently, Andrea has also appeared in other TV shows. She plays Principal Willingham on the Nickelodeon series That Girl Lay Lay. This show first aired in September 2021.

Andrea Barber was married to Jeremy Rytky from 2002 to 2014. They have two children together.

Andrea enjoys staying active. She loves running and has completed many races. As of 2016, she had finished twenty-six half-marathons and three full marathons.
