Andrew Charles Lang Jr. was born on June 28, 1966. He is an American former professional basketball player. Andrew played for twelve seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Before joining the NBA, he played college basketball for the Arkansas Razorbacks.

Playing in the NBA
Starting His Professional Journey
After playing four years at the University of Arkansas, Andrew Lang was chosen by the Phoenix Suns. This happened in the second round of the 1988 NBA draft. He was the 28th player picked overall. Andrew quickly became known for being great at blocking shots. He was so good that for many years, he held the fourth-best record in the NBA for blocking a shot every 9.12 minutes.
Big Trades and New Teams
In 1992, Andrew had a great season with the Suns. He started 71 games, which was the most in his career. He also got his highest averages for rebounds (6.7 per game) and blocks (2.5 per game). After this successful year, he was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers. This trade was a big deal because it involved All-Star player Charles Barkley.
Andrew played for several different teams during his career. He was sometimes called a "journeyman" center because he moved around a lot. Besides the Suns and 76ers, he also played for the Atlanta Hawks, Minnesota Timberwolves, Milwaukee Bucks, Chicago Bulls, and New York Knicks. He retired from basketball in the year 2000. By the end of his career, he averaged 6.0 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.5 blocked shots per game. He is also the 87th best shot blocker in NBA history.
A Memorable Game Incident
While playing for the Milwaukee Bucks in 1997, Andrew was involved in a notable moment during a game. He fouled Patrick Ewing, a star center for the New York Knicks. After they collided in the air, Ewing fell and hurt his wrist. The Bucks won that game. Later in his career, Andrew Lang even joined the Knicks to play as Ewing's backup.
