Andrew Shaw was born on July 20, 1991, in Belleville, Ontario, Canada. He is a Canadian ice hockey player. He played as a right wing for the Chicago Blackhawks in the National Hockey League (NHL).
Starting His Hockey Journey
Andrew Shaw began his hockey career in a league called the OHL. He played for the Niagara IceDogs for two seasons. After that, he joined the Owen Sound Attack for one season.
In 2011, Andrew was chosen in the NHL Entry Draft. The Chicago Blackhawks picked him as the 139th player overall. This was a big step towards playing in the NHL!
Joining the NHL
After being drafted, Andrew Shaw first played for the Rockford IceHogs. This team is like a training ground for the Blackhawks. He was called up to play for the Chicago Blackhawks during the 2011–12 NHL season.
His first NHL game was on January 5, 2012. It was a memorable game! He even got into his first fight on the ice. After getting some stitches, he returned to the game. He then scored his very first NHL goal on his first shot! He scored against Ilya Bryzgalov of the Philadelphia Flyers.
Winning the Stanley Cup
Andrew Shaw achieved a huge dream in hockey on June 24, 2013. He won the Stanley Cup with the Chicago Blackhawks! They played against the Boston Bruins in the 2013 Stanley Cup Finals. The Blackhawks won the series by winning four games to two. This was a very exciting moment in his career.
