Andranik Madadian (Persian: آندرانیک مددیان, Armenian: Անդրանիկ Մադադյան), born on April 22, 1958, is a famous Iranian singer, songwriter, and actor. Most people know him by his stage name, Andy. He moved to the United States and now lives in Los Angeles. Andy is special because he sings in many languages, including Persian, Armenian, and English.

Andy's Music Journey

Starting as a Duo

Andy first became well-known when he teamed up with Kouros Shahmiri. They formed a very successful music duo called Andy & Kouros. Together, they released four popular albums. These albums were Khastegary (1985), Parvaz (1987), Balla (1990), and Goodbye (1991).

In 1992, Andy and Kouros decided to pursue their own music careers. Both of them became successful solo artists. However, they reunited several times for special performances. They even went on an international tour together in 2009.

His Solo Career

As a solo artist, Andy has released 16 albums. Many of his songs have topped the music charts. In 2013, he was nominated for several big awards at the World Music Awards.

The next year, he received the "Millennium" award in New York City. This award recognized his long and successful career. A very special moment happened on January 17, 2020. Andy received his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. This was the 2,684th star given out, making him the first Iranian artist to get this honor.

Working with Other Artists

Andy has also worked with many other famous musicians. In 2009, he recorded a song called "Stand by Me" with Richie Sambora and Jon Bon Jovi. This song was made to show support for the people of Iran.

He also joined a special project called World Peace One. This project brought together many successful artists to promote peace around the world. In 2014, he was part of a song called We Hear Your Voice. This song featured 15 international stars from 11 countries. It aimed to inspire people to find common ground and heal differences between nations.

In 2016, Andy released a duet with La Toya Jackson called "Tehran." Later, in 2019, he sang a duet with Algerian singer Khaled called "Salama So Good." In 2020, his English song "The Good Fight" was featured in the movie "American Fighter."

Andy's Life

Andy married his longtime girlfriend, artist Shani Rigsbee, on November 11, 2011. They started working and touring together around 1992. Andy and Shani are very involved with charities that help people with cancer. They have performed together for events like the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life.

• On January 17, 2020, Andy received the 2,684th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He was the first Iranian artist to get this honor. His star is located at 6810 Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles.
