Career

With Nightwish (2007–2012)

Anette officially became the new lead singer for Nightwish in early 2007. She was chosen from about 2,000 people who wanted the job. The band's leader, Tuomas Holopainen, was first worried because she had a young son. But Anette kept trying and sent the band a live DVD of her singing with Alyson Avenue. She then got the job in February 2007. Tuomas said that the band all agreed she was the right choice.
Her identity was kept secret until May 24, 2007. The next day, Nightwish released their first song with Anette, "Eva". On June 13, Nightwish announced their new album name, Dark Passion Play. The second single, "Amaranth", quickly became very popular in Finland.
Dark Passion Play was released in September 2007. It sold very well and reached number one in many countries. It has sold over 1.5 million copies worldwide.
