Ang Mo Kio MRT station (NS16/CR11) is an important train station in Ang Mo Kio, Singapore. It is part of the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) system. This station serves trains on the North South Line. It will also connect to the Cross Island MRT line in the future.

This station is special because it's one of the few above-ground stations that also has a middle train track. This extra track can be used when there are problems with other tracks or trains. Some train services also start or end their journeys here.

Station History

Ang Mo Kio MRT station first opened its doors on 7 November 1987. It was one of the very first MRT stations to start operating in Singapore. This was a big step for public transport in the country.

In 2019, the government announced exciting news for the station's future. Ang Mo Kio station will become an interchange station. This means it will connect two different train lines: the North South Line and the new Cross Island Line. The first part of the Cross Island Line is expected to open in 2029. This will make it even easier for people to travel around Singapore.
