History of Angel Fire Resort
The land where Angel Fire Resort now stands was once used for grazing cattle. In 1966, a family named LeBus decided to turn this area into a resort. This was the start of Angel Fire Resort as we know it today.
The Village of Angel Fire
Angel Fire is also the name of a small village nearby. In 2010, about 1,216 people lived there. It's a very popular place for skiing, with over 500 acres (2.0 km2) of slopes. The village and surrounding areas have cold winters and mild, pleasant summers.
Remembering Veterans
North of the resort, you can find the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. This special place was started by the family of David Westphall. He was a Marine who sadly passed away during the Vietnam War in 1968. The memorial helps everyone remember and honor those who served. Angel Fire is also part of a beautiful drive called the Enchanted Circle Scenic Byway.
Changes in Ownership
Over the years, Angel Fire Resort has had different owners. In 1984, a person named Dan R. Lasater bought the resort. He owned it for a few years. Later, in 1994, the resort faced some financial challenges. By 1995, a group of business people from Texas bought the resort. This helped Angel Fire Resort continue to be a great place for visitors.

Winter Sports and Slopes
In winter, the resort is a fantastic place for skiing and snowboarding. It has over 70 different runs, which are paths down the mountain. One of these runs used to be one of the longest in New Mexico for a lift-serviced slope.
Summer Adventures
When the snow melts, the fun doesn't stop! Angel Fire Resort has a beautiful golf course where you can play. Mountain biking has also become very popular here. The resort has even hosted big mountain biking events.
"Big Ol' Texas Weekend"
Many visitors to Angel Fire Resort come from Texas. Because of this, the resort holds an annual event called the "Big Ol' Texas Weekend." It's a special celebration of Texan culture and a fun time for everyone!
