Angela Yee, born on January 3, 1976, is a well-known American radio host. She currently hosts her own radio show called Way Up with Angela Yee.
Angela also helps lead important groups like the We Are Family Foundation. She is also on the board of the American Foundation for the University of the West Indies. She was also the very first ambassador for the New York Public Library, helping to encourage reading. Since 2019, she has worked as an ambassador for BSE Global, focusing on making sure everyone feels included and connected in the community.

Early Life and School
Angela Yee grew up in Flatbush, Brooklyn, New York City. Her father was Chinese, and her mother was from Montserrat. She went to Poly Prep in New York.
When her family moved to South Orange, New Jersey, Angela transferred to Columbia High School. For college, she studied English at Wesleyan University and graduated in 1997. After college, she started working in marketing and music.
Angela's Career
Starting Out in Music
Angela Yee began her career with an internship at Wu-Tang Management. She helped the CEO, Divine. She even appeared in the Wu-Tang Clan's "Reunited" music video. She also wrote all the short skits for GZA's album Beneath the Surface.
Later, she worked for Paul Rosenberg and Eminem's clothing company, Shady Limited. She saw a chance to work in the marketing department at Sirius Satellite Radio. Paul Rosenberg helped her get an interview. He suggested she try out for a morning radio show, and that's how her radio journey began.
Radio Shows
Angela started her radio career at Sirius in 2005. She co-hosted The Cipha Sounds Effect on Eminem's radio station, Shade 45. She also hosted Lip Service and The Morning After with Angela Yee. When Cipha Sounds left in 2008, Angela took over the morning show. It was first called Shade 45 Morning Show Starring Angela Yee, then The Morning After with Angela Yee.
In December 2010, Angela left Shade 45. She then joined Power 105.1 to host The Breakfast Club. She hosted it with DJ Envy and Charlamagne tha God. This show became very popular for its honest interviews with artists.
In March 2013, Weekends with the Breakfast Club started. It was broadcast across the country in over 50 cities.
Angela received the Gracie Award in 2019 for her work on The Breakfast Club. This is a national radio award from the Alliance for Women in Media. In August 2020, Angela and her co-hosts were honored. They were inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame.
Angela left The Breakfast Club on December 1, 2022. She started her own nationally broadcast radio show, Way Up with Angela Yee, on February 6, 2023.
Television Appearances
Angela Yee also worked as a reporter for MTV2's Sucker Free. In 2013, she was a cast member on the VH1 reality show The Gossip Game. This show featured seven women in the New York radio and blogging world.
The Breakfast Club radio show also started being shown on Revolt TV on March 31, 2014. On March 21, 2020, Angela was featured in an episode of BET's Being series. It was called "Being: Angela Yee" and showed a look into her daily life.
Other Projects
Angela Yee has managed music artists like GZA and Jay Electronica. She helped Jay Electronica get a deal with Jay Z's Roc Nation. In 2016, Angela opened a juice bar called Juices for Life in Bedford-Stuyvesant. Her business partners are DJ Envy and Styles P.
In 2017, Angela started a book club called Kickin' It From the Stoop. She partnered with Simon and Schuster/Atria Books to encourage reading. In 2018, she became the first ambassador for the New York Public Library. In January 2020, Angela hosted the Giving Gracefully Awards. This event honored famous athletes and public figures for their charity work.
Helping Others
Angela Yee is involved in many charity efforts. Since 2013, she has worked with Dress for Success. This group helps women in need get professional clothes and job skills. Also in 2013, Angela supported a breast cancer awareness campaign.
In 2013, Angela also started helping with Coats for Kids. This group gives winter coats to children who need them. She hosted their fundraiser in 2015 and helped hand out coats in later years. In 2015, she also hosted an event for Children Making Strides Against Childhood Cancer. In December 2018, she worked with the National Black Justice Coalition to raise awareness for World AIDS Day.
Also in 2018, Angela started "Run With Yee." This is a monthly 5K run in New York's Prospect Park. The goal is to encourage healthy living. In June 2022, Angela founded her own non-profit group called Well Road. It focuses on wellness and reading.
