The Anguilla Channel (which is Canal d'Anguilla in French) is a narrow stretch of water in the Caribbean Sea. It acts like a watery road, separating two different places.
To the north, you'll find the island of Anguilla. This island is a British Overseas Territory, meaning it's part of the United Kingdom. To the south, the channel separates it from the French side of the island of Saint Martin. This part is called the Collectivity of Saint Martin, and it's an overseas collectivity of France.
Underwater Discoveries
In 2009, a coral reef was found in the Anguilla Channel. It was named Chris's Reef. This reef is special because it contains parts of old vehicles. Scientists think these vehicles might have been damaged by Hurricane Luis in 1995. After the hurricane, they may have been placed into the reef.
Getting Around
The Anguilla Channel is an important route for travel. There is a regular ferry service that crosses the channel. This ferry connects Blowing Point in Anguilla with Marigot in Saint Martin. It's a common way for people to travel between the two islands.
