Anime Milwaukee started in 2007. It was created by the Japanese Animation Association at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
Growing Bigger and Better
In 2011, the convention moved to a new location. This move allowed it to offer activities all day and night. AMKE has grown a lot over the years.
In 2015, the convention was expected to bring over $1 million to the local economy. This means it helped local businesses and jobs. By 2019, it was estimated to bring in about $4 million!
Sadly, Anime Milwaukee 2021 had to be cancelled. This was due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
