Voice Acting Roles
Vic Mignogna has voiced characters in more than 100 anime shows and video games. His roles include characters in popular series like Dragon Ball Z, Bleach, and Code Geass.
While working in video production in Houston, Mignogna started voice acting at ADV Films. His first voice role was Vega in the anime series Street Fighter II V. He began attending anime conventions, where he connected with Funimation. This led to his role as Broly in the Dragon Ball Z movies and Dragon Ball Super: Broly.
In 2007, Vic Mignogna received an award for Best Actor from the American Anime Awards. This was for his work on Fullmetal Alchemist. He often gets a lot of attention for his role in Fullmetal Alchemist. At one point, he attended 15 to 25 conventions each year. He aimed to record at all the major places where voice acting is done. He was the first voice actor from ADV Films to record at Funimation in Dallas. He was also the first to record in New York. He has also recorded in Los Angeles. There, he got the part of Ikkaku Madarame in Bleach. In other animated shows, he voiced Qrow Branwen in Rooster Teeth's web series RWBY.
Mignogna has also appeared in several fan-made productions. These include Fullmetal Fantasy and Star Trek: Phase II. In Star Trek: Phase II, he helped direct an episode and played an Andorian Captain. He also directed another episode and played a Klingon. In 2012, Mignogna worked with the Starship Farragut group. He directed and starred as Captain James T. Kirk in their web series Star Trek Continues. Many people have praised his work on Star Trek Continues. They especially liked his portrayal of Kirk, which captured William Shatner's unique style.
In 2021, he started his own voice acting studio. This was in partnership with the convention Anime Matsuri. In 2024, Mignogna announced a partnership with a talent agency in the UK.

Public Discussions
In January 2019, around the time the English version of Dragon Ball Super: Broly was released, some discussions about Vic Mignogna's past behavior began on Twitter. These discussions included claims of inappropriate actions, some dating back to the start of his career. Voice actresses Monica Rial and Jamie Marchi also shared their experiences. Mignogna released a statement denying the claims and saying he was sorry if his actions ever made anyone uncomfortable.
On January 22, 2019, an investigation was started by Sony Pictures. This investigation looked into reports from Rial, two fans, and a former Funimation employee. A week later, Funimation announced they would not hire him for future projects. On February 5, Rooster Teeth also stopped working with him. Funimation then replaced his voice role in The Morose Mononokean. Several anime conventions also removed him from their guest lists.
During a panel at Bak-Anime 2019 and in a Twitter post, Mignogna again expressed regret for any discomfort he might have caused. He repeated that he did not intend to cause harm. His supporters started a fundraising campaign to help with his legal costs. Mignogna confirmed he had hired a law firm to take legal action. He also said any extra money from the campaign would go to a charity. Mignogna filed a lawsuit against Funimation, Rial, Marchi, and Rial’s fiancé, Ron Toye. He claimed they had harmed his reputation and interfered with his work. Funimation denied his claims in June 2019.
In June 2019, Mignogna gave a sworn statement. He denied kissing Rial or acting inappropriately. He said his interactions were consensual and misunderstood. In July 2019, Funimation and the others filed motions to dismiss the lawsuit. They argued that their statements were protected as free speech. Other people also provided statements to support the dismissal.
On September 6, 2019, a judge dismissed most of Mignogna's claims. The judge ruled that the defendants' statements were protected free speech. Mignogna was ordered to pay some of Marchi's legal fees. On October 4, 2019, the remaining claims were also dismissed. Mignogna appealed this decision in October. The judge later ruled that Mignogna had to pay the defendants' attorney fees, totaling over $238,000. This also included $15,000 in penalties.
In January 2020, Mignogna again stated his innocence in a livestream. In February 2022, Rial and Marchi discussed the case on a podcast. On August 18, 2022, a higher court upheld the dismissal of Mignogna's lawsuit. The court also increased the amount of attorney fees he had to pay to Rial and Toye. Mignogna's final appeal was denied in December 2022.
